Round table Integrated development of the Arctic mono-cities THEMATIC AREAS: Scenarios of regional development |

|
There are 14 mono-profile cities in the Arctic zone. According to the rating prepared by the Center for the operation of the State Commission for the development of the Arctic in conjunction with the Institute for applied political studies, the deterioration of the social and economic situation is observed in most polar mono-cities. The most difficult situation has developed in Kirovsk, Onega Kovdor and Revda settlement. Experts attribute the following to the peculiarities of the Arctic mono-cities: the structure of their economy is determined by the resource and raw materials base of the territory (the most common non-ferrous metallurgy and coal industry); regression of demographic indicators; deterioration of social, housing and communal and transport infrastructure; deficiency of budgets.
Within the framework of the round table, it is planned to discuss the construction of a system for supporting Arctic mono-cities, taking into account their developmental features, mechanisms for attracting investments, ways to improve the quality of life of the population of single-profile territories.
Issues for discussion:
- Features of the development of Arctic mono-cities
- Creating conditions for improving the socio-economic status of the Arctic single-industry towns
- Strategy and mechanisms of state support of mono-profile cities
- Mechanisms for attracting investments in mono-profile territories
